Visualization:Visualization will play a roll in every aspect of the weight loss program. Here is an example of how to go about it. Let's say that you want to lose about 40 pounds to get that six pack poppin. To visualize your self looking that way already might mean that you have to take a picture of a person already in that position and post it on your wall where you can see it every day all day. Why? Because that picture will help you stay focused on your goal. When you choose the foods that you want to eat, look at that picture and imagine what that person would eat to stay in the shape that he or she is in. When working out in the gym, imagine how many sets of which exercises that person would do to maintain that body/figure. While doing cardio exercises, envision that person right there with you the whole time. Where would he or she stop? That is where you have to go mentally to get what you want physically. Believe it or not, this is the toughest part for most people that want to lose weight and gain strength. The mental part. Myself included, that's how I know this so well. But trust me, once you get over that hurdle, it is smooth sailing from there on.
Diet: You have got to cchange the way that you eat and what you eat. Period! Fast foods are out the window when it comes to losing weight! Starchy foods will need to be regulated strictly to achieve maximum results in the shortest time period.(ie) White Rice, Bread, Potatoes, you know what I'm talking about! All the good stuff that we love so much has to be regulated if we are serious about losing weight. Pizza, Lasagna, forget about it, atleast until we are where we want to be, weight wise. Now, you will have a free day to pretty much eat what you want, in small quantities. Sundays are usually good for free days! Family meals after church and so on.
You will need to drink about a gallon of water every day too. Water keeps you feeling full, which in turn will assist you with resisting food. Also, increase the amount of times you eat per day. Contrary to popular belief, eating 3 meals a day is not the proper way to maintain a healthy body! Neither is eating once a day! Both of those ways sends the wrong message to the body. The body goes into hibernation mode from eating one meal a day and it will store storing food in the fat cells of the body for survival. If you want to lose weight, you need to eat six(6) times a day. Small portions. A portion is described as the size of the PALM of your hand. A good way to do this is by supplementing 2-3 of your meals with protein shakes. There are a ton of them out there for you to choose from. All different flavors too, so you won't get burned out on Chocolate or Vanilla and Strawberry, the most common.
Okay, we got the diet covered right? We know what we have to do there. The next thing we need to cover is the strength training part of this equation and this is where the gym comes into play if you have a gym to go to. If not, all of the exercises will have equal counterparts that you can do at home with a couple of pairs of dumbbells or stretch bands. Either way, we will cover that in the next article. Cool!
I hope that you got something out of this article and will use it to develop the body that you truly want and deserve. Until the next time,
Take care and God Bless.
